The Saskatchewan Government has eliminated provincial funding for public libraries in Regina and Saskatoon and cut funding for regional libraries in half, or by $3.5 million. This drastic funding cut will have a devastating impact on libraries, especially regional libraries, and the many people who depend on them.
One of the programs that is being eliminated is interlibrary loans. Education Minister Don Morgan has recognized the importance of this service and has said he expects this service to continue – even though his government has drastically cut the funding for libraries.
We need to speak out out now and demand that funding is restored for our libraries. This form letter will send a letter to Education Minister Don Morgan, NDP Education Critic Carla Beck and Premier Brad Wall.
Please feel free to edit the letter – this will make your message much more powerful.
